What I Ate & Why

Image
Happy Monday! I decided to make a blog post of what I Ate and why. Sometimes it’s important to understand why we are eating things. It’s good to question what your truly craving and did that food fulfill that craving. Please understand I am not trying to tell you what you should eat because your body is so different than mine! Now, time for the food!  This morning I had some special K red berry cereal with unsweetened vanilla almond milk. This is my FAVORITE cereal, it is so so good. I wanted something easy and yummy, plus I was craving it! I can’t tell you why, but I always eat my cereal in a coffee mug. It just tastes better that way 🤷🏼‍♀️ I had my cereal with my iced coffee. I do 8 oz of coffee w/ 3 French vanilla creamers, a splash of almond milk, & stevia to make it extra sweet! My sweet grandparents came up to see us and my grandma took me & my sister shopping and to lunch. We decided upon a cute little sandwich place & it was extremely delicious! I got the turk...

How to Realistically Start Eating Intuitively - Step 1

I remember when I was first learning, I tried googling how to start but all I saw were the 10 principals of Intuitive Eating *(listed below). I was like ok great, but still, where and how do I start? I can’t just magically change my mindset and ignore all the food rules I had been practicing for over a year. My body was totally out of wack and I didn’t even know how to eat normally. I remember reading “just listen to your hunger cues,” well at that point, I didn’t have any hunger cues! My body was so confused, it didn’t know when I was hungry or full. I felt like I could eat anytime and anything. There was no regulation. Now I am able to feel fullness & hunger and listen to my body and give it what it needs. There’s always days where my appetite is lower or I might not be hungry for lunch, yet I know my body needs energy.  Let’s get to it.. where should you start?? I HIGHLY reccomend purchasing  this  Inuitive Eating book by  Evelyn Tribole & Elyse Resch. Dur...

My Story & Recovery from an Eating Disorder

Image
Hey Guys, so my name is Chandler and I am currently a junior, in high school. Ok, I know what your thinking, "There is no flippin' way this chick knows what she's talking about." But let me change your mind. I have been through an eating disorder and recovery on my own and have done endless hours of research on everything I say. In no way will I ever tell you how to eat, move, or feel; I am only here to tell you about my life and things that have changed it in the best ways.        Let's go back to that eating disorder... So, in my ninth grade year I started eating "healthy." I always remember feeling like the bigger one of my friends, which let me say, I was NEVER big, my friends were just tiny. As a 5'7 ninth grader I was about 135 lbs, I did cheer and a lot of it was muscle. By eating "healthy," I was restricting my calories A LOT. It got to the point where I avoided social outings with my friends in fear of what we would eat beca...

What I Ate [Tuesday Edition]

Image
Happy Tuesday! I hope you all have had a great week so far!! Since it was MLK day yesterday, we didn’t have school. It was super relaxing and very needed. I rolled out of bed around nine, worked on the ACT, and got my chick fil a fix in too 😋  Now to the present 👇🏻👇🏻 Breakfast was a banana muffin (from snack lab of course!) with almond mutter & an iced coffee. I had bible study that morning, so I needed something quick to grab for breakfast! I knew a granola bar wouldn’t be very sustainable for me so I opted for a muffin! On days where I have time to sit down, I might have toast or maybe yogurt. If you know me, coffee is a must. So naturally, I do bible study at Starbucks!! Always a tall vanilla blonde latte iced for me :)  Lunch was super simple. I packed a couple slices of deli turkey, a cheddar cheese stick, wheat thins, and an apple. These crackers are from target and they are the BEST. They are saltier than normal wheat thins and are so delicious. On...

8 Healthy Snack Ideas You Need

Image
As requested, here are some of my favorite snacks: both packaged and some you can make on your own.  I eat a lot of pre packed snacks, just because at this time in my life, that is what's most convenient. Something to remember while looking through these is: all of them are equal. Just because the calories or nutrients might differ doesn't mean one is better than the other. They are all just as tasty and equally valued. Angie's BOOMCHICKAPOP kettlecorn; sweet & salty This is my go to snack always because it fulfills sweet and salty cravings!! I personally am not a popcorn fan, but this still right here, THE BEST. Seriously the only popcorn I will eat. I like to buy the snack size bags because it makes it easy to grab and eat on the go.  Nature Valley Oats N' Honey Crunchy Granola Bars These granola bars really hit the spot for me every time, I love the sweetness and the crunch it brings. They are also super convenient to just throw in your bag and eat when your hu...

What I Ate Wednesday

Image
Hello sweet friends & followers !!!  To start off, for breakfast I had a snack lab (local store) banana muffin (I am literally obsessed, I bought 12 the other day 🤭 I freeze them and heat them up when I want to eat them!) + slathered some almond butter on the muffin. Oh and of course my coffee!!! For my coffee I just do 4 oz coffee (I use the Starbucks blonde k cups) w/ little bit of French Vanilla creamer (I just use international delight) + almond milk + stevia for extra sweetness!!  In the morning I wake up, go to dance at 7, then eat breakfast after between 8-9. This works out really well for me because i don’t wake up hungry, it usually takes me an hour or two before I start to feel hunger.  ←coffee My school has a microwave in the cafeteria which is super nice so I can make my Mac n Cheese, yay 🎉🎉 My lunches are always just simple and easy things I can throw in there.  I don’t always feel 100% satisfied but it’s okay, that’s just l...

After Christmas Shopping Haul

Image
Hey friends!! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, I feel like it went by so quickly :( School got out the Friday before Christmas and I feel like I didn't even really get to enjoy the season because of finals! Although, I am so excited to ring in the new year!! This year, me and a bunch of girl friends are going out to dinner, what are your plans??  Anyways, since my birthday is close to christmas, both of my grandparents give me money for my birthday, then money for christmas and we go shopping with it all!! I ordered a lot of skincare and other things as well so that took up some of it, but here's what I got with the rest !!(still have some, thinking of saving for spring clothes 😏) American Eagle AE WAFFLE MOCK NECK SWEATER DRESS                    I am always hesitant to buy turtle necks because they can be super itchy and irritating around my neck but when I tried this on, I didn't even f...

Intuitive Eating

Image
M XL L S       I wanted to share with y’all my thoughts and opinions on intuitive eating. Intuitive eating to me is eating/living a healthy and balanced life style for the most part but every so often with the occasional treat. Healthy eating is about eating foods that fuel your body and make you feel good. It’s not about restricting yourself from foods you love that wouldn’t be considered “healthy.” A few months ago I would’ve never imagined myself feeling this way or even let myself consider for a second about eating a donut, especially not two because it scared me honestly. I thought by eating one donut it would make me gain weight. I didn’t know how many calories were in the donut so I wouldn’t eat it, or if I did, I would restrict myself the rest of the day, eating low calorie meals, feeling like I needed to go on a run with barely any fuel in my body. I wouldn’t even eat at restaurants if I they didn’t have the calories listed. Just starting this...

Satisfying eats and thoughts

Last week I struggled with almost forcing myself the have variety and perfectly balanced meals and lots of veggies. The problem with that was I would find myself saying “I can’t have that. I already had that once this week. I need variety.” Or “that’s not what a perfect balanced meal is so I can’t have that” WRONG. I was left feeling unsatisfied and finding myself wanting something else to eat because what I was eating wasn’t “filling” me up. I might have felt physically full but not mentally satisfied. This week I’ve already felt so much better. I’ve realized I CAN trust my body. I thought if I didn’t have all meals planned out that I wouldn’t be able to figure out what I want or create a plate with all the food groups. Yesterday I ate only what I wanted in each moment and for dinner I ended up with a plate of a chicken sausage made with white beans and kale, sweet potato with butter & cinnamon, and banana & peanut butter. It was seriously one of...
